I finished this book over a month ago and the characters are still living in my head. I think about it often. It’s a heartbreaking story that opened my eyes to so many of the hardships endured during that dark time. Even through the sadness I couldn’t stop reading, I needed to know what happened. The writing is excellent. This book will make you feel deeply. If you can handle a heavy read, I highly recommend this one.

This was such a good book. It is appalling to read of the atrocities that was endured, but so important to learn.
  • Not an immersive reading experience

Not a fan of the prose or storytelling technique(s). The premise is interesting enough, but I found myself reluctantly trudging through each page to reach the ending.
